College student emphasises the safety and care for children in daycares
It is early in the morning and Amanda Brown is already at the Daycare waiting patiently for her kids to slowly come in. While Amanda waits for the kids she gets out some dolls and stuffed animals out of the toy chess and preps the room for the day long day ahead.
Amanda is exhilarated that she gets to come and escape to her own classroom filled with children and she gets to take care of them through different and exciting activities she creates.
Amanda is apart of the childhood daycare facility and she has various jobs that she does regularly when working there. And she wouldn’t change a single thing about working at the daycare.
One of the regular routines Amanda gets in is to prep all the meals and snacks that she will be giving throughout the day. She checks to make sure no one is allergic to any food or snacks.
Her role as a childcare provider is to make sure everyone is eating lots of nutritional foods and makes sure they are fed when they away from home.
Each child gets some options of snacks such as fruit snacks or goldfish. Brown says that they try to serve a variety of foods to please each child. Snack time is one of many eventful activities that happen in the classroom.
According to Indeed they describe a childcare provider as someone who “Prepare and serve meals and monitor children during lunch time” (Indeed, web).
Even though this may seem like a minor thing that happens within the daycare Brown also makes sure the children are happy and by doing this Brown works her magic and comes up with some activities for the kids to play.
Amanda Brown is a first year at JCCC and she is majoring in Social work and with this job she is hoping she will gain enough confidence as she transitions to a possible career job.
Brown said she is unsure what she wants to do for a career but is willing to keep her mind open as she thinks of the various jobs for her future. Though she is not her only motivation, her mom she claims is helping her out with her journey.
“I have a supportive mom...She wants to make sure that I am emotionally ready” she says with a laugh.
She is determined that she wants to keep on this path of social work for one reason, which will be that she wants to help other kids who were struggling like her.
Brown at a young age had many good memories and some bad memories, and she wants to make sure the kids are aware that there is someone out there in her shoes and makes sure that they are not alone.
Amanda was raised in good hands and was always around good role models like her mom and her older siblings.
Amanda grew up here in Kansas and she was always around people and this is where she got the interest in helping people and wanted to make that dream a reality.
Brown the 2 youngest out of her siblings. She has a stepbrother who is 25 years old and a older sister that is 21 and a younger sister who is 8 years old.
Brown was always a social person she discovered and she has been teaching sunday school for about 4-5 years. And in the summer she loves to teach VBS (vacation bible school). With this extra teaching she is slowing gaining the experience that will help her become more confident in her future job.
With this she explored a possible job, which was working at a car dealership and decided that was not a good path for her.
Brown said “I didn’t want to sit in a office all day and do tasks all day” “That kind of job was really not for me… I didn’t like the idea of doing statements and working with numbers, I wanted to explore my options and stumbled upon working in a daycare.”
Amanda had a funny memory while she was just starting her new job.Brown was just starting out in her new job and she struggled grasping to the children to learn her name.
It was until the first time a little girl said her name that made Brown heart melt.
“I would point to the girl and ask who’s that and she would say her name then I would point to myself and ask the same question and she said PANDA!!”. Brown then explained that the children would never say her name but to call her Panda.
Amanda has a good caring heart and wants to spread positivity and would soon become a positive role model to other people she comes into contact with.
Amanda is apart of the childcare system and is gaining life experiences and strengthens her confidence through work and her schooling. Brown is a social person who is eager to see what her future will hold for her and she is willing to out a little bit out of her comfort zone to help others in need.
